Just one

of my little buddy. I took a series of close ups of the two of them to check the focus on my camera. You should have seen hers....not so cute. Maybe I'll blog that little gem soon. I also need to catch up on Easter, last week's spring break and other what-nots. But for today, my little guy. Gosh, I love him so....

Sold!

Yesterday we signed a contract to build a new house! We are a little nervous about our decision, but hopefully it will all work out. We started "looking" probably back in January but didn't really take it seriously until the end of February/beginning of March. I'm sure the sales people for the new home were wondering if we were ever going to commit! We've had our current home on the market for about 6 weeks and things look promising. It's going to take nothing short of a miracle for this all to work out, but for now we are going with it! Here we are in front of our new lot (can't you tell Miss C is thrilled)?

Our first step is to go through design. That should probably take about a month and we'll be able to pick out everything ourselves. I can't wait! After we finish in design, they will break ground and get started. They are expecting it to take about 8 months or so...so we are thinking sometime around the end of December. I hope it's finished before the holidays....it will be nice to be in our new home for Christmas!

Firefighter

Two posts in one day!

I borrowed this get-up from a friend today for a special project I'm working on :). Little J saw it in the front seat of the car and had to put it on. He worked on fighting fires in the house while I was making lunch and the next thing I know, he's outside....
Once he spotted me, look what happened. Good thing I was out of range!

Riding bikes

So, we've been riding bikes around here a lot. And I mean a lot. Miss C has finally mastered bike riding without the training wheels (and can even start and stop on her own) so that's all she wants to do lately. She's always been a very cautious little girl, but you should see her on this bike. Sometimes it makes me nervous! She's so very proud of herself.

We've ventured out to one of the local school parking lots (it's pretty cool because it's got a big oval track painted on the cement) to ride bikes since our street (and our neighborhood) aren't the greatest (too many hills). Last night we biked over there for almost an hour after dinner. I see this becoming a family thing. I guess I'll need to get a bike (yikes!). I'm not a fan of bike riding since it's scares me half to death (wonder where Miss C gets her cautious attitude from). But we want to take Miss C for a ride on the Greenway, and I'll need a bike for that. I guess I could always run beside her as long as she doesn't go too fast.

Little J is getting the hang of bike riding too. We haven't attempted to take the training wheels off yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if he starts to learn this summer. He's got pretty good balance and seems really comfortable. I think we might take the pedals off of Miss C's old bike and make it one of those "balance bikes". I guess that is all the rage now and I've had several friends swear that it really helps to have them start on something like that first. Although Little J isn't one for patience (wonder where he gets that?) so we'll have to see if he even wants to do something like that.

Here is one of Miss C cruising along down our street.
Little J on his scooter. He loves that thing too. I was worried he was too little for it, but I guess I should have known better!

doodling

Miss C loves to write, and draw, and doodle on just.about.everything. If there is a piece of paper laying around, she'll probably start drawing on it. Often I'll open up the pages of a magazine only to find she's already gotten to it and filled the margins with her own little scribbles (which totally makes me smile). Nothing is sacred in this house. Nothing. Case in point:

Yes, I often have doodling all over the windows too. Since she loves to draw so much, I keep spiral bound notebooks up in her room so that she can doodle during "rest time". I love seeing what she draws (or writes). I think I'm going to keep a few of the notebooks for her when she is older.

The other day she saw one of my old day planners (yes, I'm still a paper and pen girl) laying around and asked if she could draw on it. She's been doodling in the margins and scheduling "appointments" in it. She told me she was also writing "stories" in it but wouldn't let me see them (of course I snatched it when she wasn't looking). Here's what I found:

I can't understand all of it, but here's what I can gather:

"ouns upon tim tha wus a butufl prinses. The prinses wus inchanteg. She wus inchanteg lic a mrmad. The mrmad wus inchateg lik a prins."

"Ouns apon a tim tha wus a litl grl playg wit a bascitboll. Wen shy plad with the bascitboll she did not recun the bacitball. A big! Big! Big! Bascitboll hop."

"Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess. The princess was enchanting. She was enchanting like a mermaid. The mermaid was enchanting like a prince."

"Once upon a time there was a little girl playing with a basketball. When she played with the basketball she did not recun (????) the basketball. A big! Big! Big! Basketball hoop."

"Ouns upon a tim thar wr sum horsis. The horsis chas the pigs. The pigs chast the caws. The caws chas the rostrs. The rostrs chas the frmr and the wif chast the brn"

"Once upon a time there were some horses. The horses chase the pigs. The pigs chase the cows. The cows chase the roosters. The roosters chase the farmer and the wife chased the brn (brown or barn, maybe?)."
"Ouns upon u tim thar wr farys. The farys chast the arplans. The airplans chast the jet. The jet chast the helicoptr chast the skly"

"Once upon a time there were fairies. The fairies chased the airplanes. The airplanes chased the jet. The jet chased the helicopter chased the sky."

I guess she is all about something chasing something else, huh?
