House update

Here are a few updated pictures of the house.  We seem to be coming along!  They poured the foundation and have been working on the concrete in the basement (and water proofing happened).
Little snickerdoodle is way back there at the end of our imaginary driveway.  He LOVES playing in the dirt at the new house.  We are hoping our driveway is going to be nice and flat at this house.  A steep driveway is one of the many things about our current house that we don't love.  So far, so good!
Basement view.  The backyard is going to be nice and shady with all the trees we have back there.  Hard to believe the basement is western facing with all that shade!

Let's party!

Yesterday we had a little party playgroup for Miss C's TK class. We invited the whole class to celebrate the end of preschool (sniff, sniff) and the beginning of summer. All but one of her friends was able to make it and they had an absolute blast. We really did get lucky with such a great group of kids (and awesome teachers)! I did kind of a cat-in-the-hat theme based on the book "Oh the Places You'll Go" and it turned out pretty cute.

We got a bouncy slide that we hooked up the hose too and the kids had a great time with their own personal slip and slide!

Congrats kiddos!

Kindergarten bound

I'm not going to lie, I'm having a rough time with this. My little baby graduated preschool today and is kindergarten bound in the fall. The emotions have been building for the past couple of weeks and yesterday and today have been rough. I went to pick her up yesterday for her last day of preschool. Everything was fine, until I started to riffle through her backpack on the way home. In it was her name tag and other items from her class that they had up the first day of school. I totally lost it. I mean, big ugly cry lost it. I can't believe her preschool days are coming to and end and she is starting real school in the fall.

Over the past couple of months she has slowly been letting go of her babyhood. I'm sobbing just writing this by the way. Her beloved Baby (the one that she has been attached to since she was 9 months old) is no longer needed and now resides at the foot of the bed untouched. Every great once in awhile, she'll hold on to her for comfort, but those days are few and far between. Over the past few months, she's gotten a new found confidence about her and my heart swells watching this little girl become more sure of herself.

Back to graduation....they had a great little ceremony for the kids including a song about being ready for Kindergarten. I suspect there was not a dry eye in the house!

Here is my big girl walking in

Here they are doing their little song.  Seriously, it was the cutest thing I've ever heard :)

Getting her diploma.  Yesterday I wrote that Little J sprinted to get his when he graduated from the 3's program.  I hardly got a shot of him before he ran back to his seat.  Look at this little one today.  She really knows how to make me smile :)

Family picture with my kindergarten bound girl.  You can't tell, but I'm sobbing behind the big glasses. We are so proud of your Miss C!  We cannot wait for you to start your lifelong journey of learning.  Kindergarten is the first step in that journey and we couldn't be more proud of you!

3's program graduation

My baby's first year of preschool is over :(.  Little guy graduated today and is ready to go to Pre-K.  Thank goodness it's not kindergarten just yet.  I'm not sure I could handle that (although I have to deal with it b/c Miss C is headed that way whether I like it or not)!  Anyway, his preschool had a little celebration to close out the great year.

Here he is with a drawing of what his favorite thing about preschool was.  It says, "I liked swinging on the tire swing."  I have a sneaking suspicion that throughout his life, his favorite subject is going to be PE or recess :).  Some of the other kids like reading books, liked the teachers playing games with them, you know the academic stuff.  Not that my little one isn't into academics, but it's become increasing clear this one loves sports and all things related to physical activities.  I hope he can strike a good balance between the two!
Here he is getting his diploma.  It all happened so fast that it's totally blurry and he practically ran back to his seat.  So much for that perfect picture moment :)
Proud mama...

I guess the excitement of graduation from the 3's program to Pre-K was just a little too exhausting for this little guy to handle.  After the celebration and lunch, this is what I found on our way home.  Considering this little one RARELY sleeps, I'll chalk this up to a good day for everyone involved :).

Breaking Ground

Houston, we have officially broken ground!  After about 5 weeks of design (which by the way was pure toooooorrrrrture) we are finally ready to get this house underway!  I'm so nervous how it's all going to turn out.  Going through design was so much harder than I thought it would be.  It's really hard to tell from a teeeeny tiny sample what it's going to look like life size.  Never mind making sure everything coordinates!  I can't believe how many decisions we had to make.  I couldn't believe grout comes in about 152 different colors!  Who knew?!  Oh and to mention that about 48 of them are varying shades of white or ivory.  Let's just keep our fingers crossed it will all come together nicely!  There are a few things that I'm just not sure how it's going to look.  Too late now :).  We will just take to today to celebrate that we are on our way.  Very excited!

Dance recital

Today Miss C had her second annual dance recital. She did a great job! It's so cute to see the little ones get on stage and do their routines. This will probably be the last year of dance for her. She's already expressed interest in doing other things and has decided not to do dance again next year. Maybe we will give gymnastics a shot (and maybe my wallet will get a break!).
